The Issues
Education:
- Funding to secure teacher positions.
- Better quality schools for all children
- Reduce student teacher ratio
- Offer alternatives to keep students motivated to stay in school
Transportation:
- Secure stimulus money already set aside for roads and unfinished projects such as I-485
- Work with federal government to secure grants for streetcars and other mass transit projects
- Work with all levels of government to ensure mass transit is affordable in Mecklenburg County
Jobs:
- Recruit jobs to Mecklenburg County in all sectors to get the unemployed and underemployed back to work
- Work to lower tax credit for small businesses to get them to hire immediately and to increase entrepreneurship
- Offer incentives to large businesses to bring jobs back to the area for everyday people
Education leads to economic growth. Economic growth leads to jobs. We must have a strong reliable transportation system in place to have a better district, city and state.
